The opportunity to capture people doing what they love has always excited me. It is obvious when someone is passionate about their work and I absolutely love that. So naturally I was stoked when Ally Mancino hired me for a portrait session so she could promote her business + passions as a personal trainer + martial artist.
Not only does Ally keep her social media feeds packed with upbeat messages, inspirational quotes + videos of her busting her butt at the gym, but she has these handwritten inspirational messages tattooed all over herself. They just prove how dedicated she is to staying positive + strong, while these photographs are proof that where there's strength, beauty will follow.
Ally's smile is beautiful + contagious. It's the kind of smile that makes my job easy.
But don't let her baby face fool you, she is still one tough cookie.
It was great to be able to capture her in both of her favorite places- at the gym + outside in nature.
Once she begun her martial arts routine, she became incredibly focused. It really inspired me to capture the strength + tranquility I saw come over her.
An old friend of mine always used to say "just keep swimming" whenever I felt discouraged. Yes it's from Finding Nemo, an animated movie for children, but that movie offers more than a few pearls of wisdom. That scene in the whale belly? So applicable for those times when we doubt ourselves. I told Ally how much the saying means to me so we did one last set up, a more intimate portrait that showcased that awesome reminder.
Just. Keep. Swimming.
